IGI has designed a series of exclusive educational courses for members of the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB), the World’s Largest, with more than 4,000 jewelry professionals engaged in the import, export, manufacturing and marketing of rough and polished diamonds.
“The World’s Largest”
The BDB offers 2 million square feet of facilities spanning 20 acres of land, with 2,500 offices and various trading halls, business centers and security vaults. The facility was designed in the shape of a diamond, with interconnected high-rise buildings, and includes an additional 1 million square feet of underground car parking and utility services.
Practical Scheduling
India is currently responsible for over 70% of the world’s diamond, gemstone and jewelry manufacturing. Recognizing the need for flexibility, IGI designed the coursework so that participating Bourse members can attend to their usual professional commitments while studying. The courses have been designed with equal emphasis placed on theoretical and practical learning.
According to Mehul Shah, Vice President of the BDB:
This venture with IGI will give our workforce the confidence they need to help the industry grow. Constant upgrade is indeed the need of the hour and courses like these will give the members of the BDB an academic credential.
Diamond Grading, Jewelry Design and More
Among the courses extended to bourse members the Polished Diamond Grading Course and Accelerated Jewelry Design Course – specializing in CAD creations – have proven most popular. IGI will also be conducting a 5-day workshop on the 4C’s, diamond grading processes and fundamentals involving identification and production of lab grown diamonds, exclusively for BDB members.
Said Tehmasp Printer, IGI India President and Managing Director:
With this collaboration between the largest diamond bourse and IGI, we intend to spread the reach of quality education and craftsmanship among our members to work alongside their global counterparts.
