IGI is expanding its operations at the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) in Mumbai, India. The institute will continue providing full-fledged sorting and screening services from a new facility which will handle greater capacity.
The BDB is the world’s largest diamond bourse, offering 2 million square feet of facilities spanning 20 acres of land, with 2,500 offices and various trading halls, business centers and security vaults.
Inaugural Ceremony
An inaugural ceremony featuring IGI India’s Managing Director, Tehmasp Printer, along with BDB President Anoop Mehta and Vice-President Mehul Shah took place on Monday, September 6. Other industry dignitaries in attendance included principals from Shairu Gems, Kantilal Chhotalal, Diatrends and Blue Star, among others.
Faster Operation Cycles
According to IGI India’s Managing Director Tehmasp Printer:
The newly inaugurated facility is designed to ensure swifter certification processes in large numbers. With a dedicated team on board, we are happy to announce that we are now well equipped to assist the trade in faster operation cycles. With technical advancements, we believe the gem and jewelry industry is growing towards a brilliant future and a more confident customer base.

“The need of the hour”
India is currently responsible for over 70% of the world’s diamond, gemstone and jewelry manufacturing. IGI’s move to increase capacity at the epicenter of the country’s diamond trade will be beneficial, as noted by BDB President Anoop Mehta.
I’d like to congratulate team IGI on its newly inaugurated facility. This initiative will enable faster turnaround which is the need of the hour and with the business season all set to touch its peak, this facility extended by IGI will truly benefit the members of the bourse.

Continuous Improvement
Earlier this year, IGI Partnered with the BDB on a series of exclusive educational courses for bourse members, designing the coursework so that participating Bourse members could attend to their usual professional commitments while studying. With progressive technology and a team of experts, IGI is dedicated towards assisting its associates at the Bharat Diamond Bourse.
Drop Off and Collection
Diamond, gemstone and jewelry professionals in India are invited to drop off parcels, and collect them following completion of the grading process, at IGI’s new offices: Tower 2 CC, B1 at the Bharat Diamond Bourse.
