The Rachel Balkovec Empowerment Collection – Borsheims
Today Borsheims launched The Rachel Balkovec Collection, a line of engraved necklaces designed by the first female manager in affiliated professional baseball. Described as “wildly passionate about women fighting for their seat at the table,” Rachel uses words connected to her journey to becoming who she is today. A portion of every necklace sold is being donated to Omaha’s Women’s Center for Advancement.
Jewelry Industry Creates Women’s Day Celebrations – JCK
On February 28 JCK’s Karen Dybis provided information on industry events empowering women around the USA and the world. Front and center was goldsmith and jewelry designer Christina Malle, who is receiving Pure Earth’s Force of Nature Award for her support and influence in addressing mercury pollution in artisanal and small-scale gold mining.

Earlier today, Forbes provided a list of 20 retailers running initiatives that give back to charities and organizations by supporting and empowering women and girls. There are a half-dozen jewelry providers on this list.

Yahoo is sharing a slideshow of 11 bright and brilliant jewelry pieces, all designed by women. In addition to celebrating female designers, the piece highlights the empowerment of self-gifting.
In decades past, jewelry has been wrongly thought of as something that should be gifted to a woman , and while being gifted a piece of jewelry is wonderful as well, having the power to gift yourself is, in some ways, even more meaningful.
