Bonhams recorded ‘perfect’ sales of all 119 items at their aptly named ‘Perfect Jewelry Box’ auction in New York earlier this month. Every lot offered found a buyer, resulting in a total of 8.1 million dollars. According to Bonhams’ Caroline Morrissey:
It was a privilege to present this collection, which had such a diverse mix of period jewels, rare gemstones and exceptional white diamonds. Leading the sale were three Type IIa, D color diamonds, all over 10 carats, which is extremely rare. The results reflected the quality of the pieces offered.

Here are the top five pieces from this ‘perfect’ auction.
35 Carat Diamond Ring
The centerpiece of the auction was this 35 carat, D color, VVS1 clarity emerald-cut diamond ring by Leviev. It’s accented by round brilliant diamonds of 1.90 carats total weight. The piece sold for $2.7 million, $200K above its $2.5 million pre-sale estimate.
22.10 carat Diamond Ring
This ring holds a 22.10 carat, D color, VVS2 clarity oval cut diamond center, accompanied by two bullet-shaped diamonds. It sold for $1.6 million, exceeding its $1.5 million high pre-sale estimate.
11.37 carat Diamond Ring
This ring an 11.37 carat, D color, VVS2 clarity (with potential to be internally flawless) square emerald-cut diamond, bracketed by tapered baguette-cut diamonds sold for $800,475, far surpassing its $550,000 high pre-sale estimate.
24.80 carat Sapphire Ring
This ring set with a rectangular-cut, 24.80-carat Ceylon sapphire accented by round brilliant-cut diamonds commanded $327,975, which surpassed its $300,000 high pre-sale estimate.
XRing
This Art Deco diamond, gem and enamel tassel necklace, fashioned in France, circa 1920 by Mauboussin, sold for $277,575, above its high pre-sale estimate of $250,000.
