During her 91 years of life Texas philanthropist Mary Anne Sammons Cree supported many Dallas causes, including the Opera, Art Museum, Symphony, United Way and Girl Scouts, among others. After passing in July, her generous spirit will continue to benefit others, and you can participate.
$1.5 million collection
Through Sept. 29, Heritage Auctions is offering more than 125 pieces from Cree’s jewelry collection. Proceeds from the sale will go to a fund set up in the name of Cree’s mother at the Communities Foundation of Texas. Michelle Castro, Director of Trusts & Estates for Heritage Auctions commented on the sale.

17.6 ct yellow diamond ring
The centerpiece of the sale is a 17.6 carat fancy intense yellow emerald-cut diamond, flanked by colorless baguette-cut diamonds weighing a total of 2.47 carats, set in platinum, yellow and white gold. At the time of this post a $250,000 bid has already been made.
125 pieces
Other pieces in the collection include other diamond rings, earrings and brooches, and several butterfly pieces, said to be favorites of both Cree and her mother.
