Participants Receive Assistance and Promotion

As a sustainability movement leader in the jewelry industry, IGI recognizes the financial commitment such transformation requires and is honored to help a fellow “Jeweler On A Mission” take steps toward preserving the environment. IGI will share selected participants’ focus and purpose stories in social channels, distribute press releases announcing the winner. Additionally, all participants will receive IGI’s playbook and roadmap to improving sustainability efforts.  As described by IGI North American President Avi Levy.

We are thrilled to be in a position where our experiences with environmentalism can help other businesses, which is why we decided every applicant will receive IGI’s playbook and roadmap to improving sustainability efforts. We want everyone in the industry to have the knowledge and insight needed to go green and we know the best way forward is working together.

Sustainability Leadership

In June, IGI became the first gemological institute to commit to carbon neutrality through association with SCS Global Services (SCS). Since 1984, SCS has been advancing sustainable development goals across multiple sectors, working with a number of prominent diamond and jewelry industry entities including the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC) and Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI), among others.

Industry-Wide Obligation

Levy commented on the responsibility businesses have to address global emissions:

According to the Paris Climate Accord, businesses can account for 60% of emissions cuts by 2030. At the Institute, we are forward thinking, committed to leading the jewelry industry to a sustainable future and passionate about helping others work to cultivate a livable planet.
