Apple Watches count your steps and unlock your car but don’t catch the eye like a Rolex or Patek Philippe flashing on your wrist. Swedish accessory maker Golden Concept will help a few Apple enthusiasts bridge that gap with a new Apple Watch case adorned with 443 diamonds.
The First and Only
According to Golden Concept, the GC Diamond Edition is the world’s first and only Apple Watch case designed with real diamonds. Each case features 443 E colored diamonds with VVS1-2 clarity and exceptional cut, and is carved from a single block of titanium. Only seven of the cases will be made.
$15,000 Price Tag
The company has a history of designing appealing, high-quality cases for Apple products. However, since their array of Apple Watch cases tends to be priced no higher than $2,000, this $15,000 Diamond Edition case stands apart. If you choose to buy one it can be personalized with an engraving on the backplate.
Fluoro-What?
The Colden Concept case for the watch features a rubber wrist strap made from customized fluoroelastomer. More commonly used in the chemical, automotive, aerospace, and energy sectors, these bracelets (I can’t call them straps) are a heat, cold and chemical-resistant synthetic rubber which would have a long service life, even if you wore them at temperatures above 302 degrees F.
More to Come?
It will be interesting to see how quickly the Diamond Edition cases sell. Based on that throughput, perhaps Golden Concepts will produce more of the same, or create a prototype iPhone Case – another accessory they produce.
Do you believe there will be more to come?
Let’s all ‘watch.’
