International grading authority joins hands with the world’s largest diamond bourse
Mumbai (February 1, 2021) — With an aim to enhance and update technical knowledge and skills, the International Gemological Institute (IGI) and the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) have designed exclusive courses in gemstone grading and jewelry design for bourse members. The Indian gem and jewelry industry is on the brink of a futuristic transformation and these courses will help industry professionals remain adept with the changing times.
“India covers over 70% of the diamond and jewelry manufacturing in the world and educating our workforce is of paramount importance. For an industry to move forward, it is important for the key players to be well informed, skilled and updated, technically and technologically. The courses extended to the members of BDB are among IGI’s premium courses covering international subject matter. The duration and timing of the courses have been designed to help members attend to their usual professional commitments while studying. “This venture with IGI will give our workforce the confidence they need to help the industry grow. Constant upgrade is indeed the need of the hour and courses like these will give the members of the BDB an academic credential,” said Mehul Shah, Vice-President, BDB.
Among the courses offered, the Polished Diamond Grading Course is the most sought after, along with the Accelerated Jewelry Design Course specializing in CAD creations. With equal emphasis placed on theoretical and practical learning, IGI delivers a holistic experience for the participants. IGI is also conducting a 5-day BDB–IGI Diamond Workshop on the 4C’s, grading processes, identification and the growth pattern of lab grown diamonds, exclusively for members of BDB.
