India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) honored IGI CEO Tehmasp Printer at their Hall of Fame event on January 4th, for outstanding contributions to the gem and jewelry industry. Their highly attended IIJS Signature show started earlier that day at the Jio World Convention center in Mumbai. The award was presented by GJEPC Chairman Vipul Shah, Vice Chairman Kirit Bhansali, National Exhibitions Convener Nirav Bhansali and Executive Director Sabhyasachi Ray.
Mr. Printer addressed the assembled professionals, describing how he opened IGI’s first Indian laboratory in a conference room in 1999. The institute has since expanded to operate 17 grading and education facilities across the country, providing jobs for hundreds of citizens, pioneering new industry programs and courses, and hosting IGI’s popular D Show. Mr. Printer concluded with appreciation to those in attendance for IGI India’s tremendous growth. “It is all thanks to you,” he said.
IGI was founded in Antwerp, Belgium in 1975. The institute now operates in more than 10 countries around the world, serving diamond, gem and jewelry professionals and consumer enthusiasts with expert analysis, screening, grading and instruction. Mr. Printer took over as head of the institute when former CEO Roland Lorie retired in October, 2023.
